Shop by van modelThe most significant exterior changes in the Mercedes Sprinters from 2006 to 2018+ can be seen in the grille, the bumper, and the lights. The Mercedes Sprinters transition from two horizontal lines in the grille to three and take on increasingly rounded shapes. The lights become smaller and more modern, switching to LED. The most notable change in the bumper is the thicker edge around the grille that extends into the bumper.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter W906 Pre-Facelift (2006-2014) is the second generation of the Sprinter, produced from 2006 until its facelift in 2014. In the United States, it is referred to as the NCV3. It was available in different wheelbase lengths and roof heights, with various diesel engine options and rear-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter W906 Facelift (2014-2018) is an updated version of the second-generation Sprinter, produced from 2014 until the introduction of the next generation in 2018. In the United States, it is still referred to as the NCV3. The facelift brought a revised front design with a new grille and angular headlights, along with an updated cabin interior.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter W907/W910 (2018+) is the third generation of the Sprinter, introduced in 2018. The W907 refers to rear-wheel and 4×4 models (before transitioning to AWD in later years), while the W910 designates front-wheel drive versions. It features a redesigned exterior, a fully updated cabin with a modern dashboard, and the introduction of Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system.
The first-generation Volkswagen Crafter (2006-2017) was developed in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz and shares its platform with the Mercedes Sprinter W906. However, it differs in several key aspects, including a Volkswagen diesel engine, a unique front grille design, distinct rear lights, and a different cabin interior. Volkswagen used the same length and height classifications as the Sprinter, keeping the naming structure identical.
From 2017 onward, the Crafter has been designed and built by Volkswagen, with no further association with the Sprinter. It is a completely new model on a Volkswagen-specific platform and is available in front-wheel, rear-wheel, and all-wheel drive (4Motion) configurations. The new design features sharper, more defined lines, giving it a more modern and structured appearance. Unlike the previous generation, Volkswagen introduced a new naming system for wheelbase and roof height options. The Crafter also serves as the basis for the Man TGE.
The Man TGE is a large van introduced in 2017 by MAN Truck & Bus. It is mechanically identical to the Volkswagen Crafter (2017+) and built on the same platform. The TGE has a different front grille, Man branding and interior details but shares its drivetrain options and body styles with the Crafter.
