Advantages of the Side Steps UK for your campervan

The Side Steps UK make it easier to step into your Mercedes Sprinter while also providing additional protection along the sides of your campervan. They are especially useful for lifted vans and campervans used for off-road and adventure travel, where extra accessibility and protection against rocks and branches can make a difference.

This UK version is specifically designed for right-hand drive (RHD) vehicles, with the driver positioned on the right side of the vehicle. If you have a left-hand drive vehicle, please check out our Side Steps EU.

Built for L2, L3 and L4 wheelbases, the Side Steps UK stay within the van’s outer dimensions and do not extend beyond the mirrors. The overhang position can also be adjusted, allowing you to position the steps closer to or further away from the van depending on your preference.

The side steps use sturdy steel brackets for mounting. Larger brackets are installed beneath the front and sliding doors and attach securely to both the van’s frame and sill. Smaller brackets mount to the sill, leaving space underneath the van for equipment such as water tanks.

The overhang position can be adjusted by 20 mm on each side, allowing you to customize the visual fit. Large openings in the steps allow mud and snow to pass through, helping to maintain grip in rough conditions. The design also minimizes the loss of ground clearance, making the steps suitable for campervans used beyond paved roads.

For reference, the positioning of the side sliding door is determined when viewed from the driver’s seat. The Side Steps UK come as a pair:

Side 1 provides a large step at the front door, with a tube extending all the way to the rear wheel arch.

Side 2 features a double step for both the front and sliding doors, with the tube extending from the front door to the rear wheel arch. The step at the sliding door is slightly smaller, providing more maneuverability when driving through tight corners.

Side Steps UK installation requirements

This product requires the installation of rivet nuts.

The Side Steps UK are designed for right-hand drive (RHD) vehicles and are compatible with 4x4, AWD and RWD (rear-wheel drive) Mercedes Sprinter models. They are not compatible with FWD (front-wheel drive) vans.

For 2WD models (RWD), a 50 mm lift is recommended for optimal fit and performance. If your van is equipped with an OEM heater on the driver’s side, the steps will still fit, although minor modifications to the heater exhaust may be required to ensure sufficient clearance.
