If your Hymer ML-T has:
No Auxiliary Heater and no Arctic Package – Compatible
Auxiliary Heater but no Arctic Package – Not recommended; installation requires significant modifications to the auxiliary heater
Arctic Package – Not compatible
In the image to the right, you can see a setup featuring both the Arctic Package and the Auxiliary Heater.

To check whether your Hymer ML-T is compatible with the Half Moon Side Steps, inspect the underside of your van. If you find empty cavities on both sides, the Half Moon Side Steps can be installed without any issues.
Below, we explain in more detail the reasoning behind our recommendations.

The auxiliary heater is a factory Mercedes option. This diesel-powered heater is installed beneath the driver’s seat and is designed to preheat the cabin air.
There is also a variant that only preheats the engine. This version is typically mounted in approximately the same area, which means the same limitations apply when adding side steps or other underbody accessories.
In theory, it’s possible to combine the auxiliary heater with the Half Moon Side Steps, but doing so requires relocating the heater and modifying the exhaust bracket.
This type of modification is complex and time-consuming. Because it involves moving factory-installed components, we generally do not recommend this setup unless the customer is aware of the required adjustments and prepared for the additional work involved.
For Hymer ML-T owners, there is an additional factory option to consider: the Arctic Package.
This package adds extra insulation and heating components underneath the vehicle, making the installation of side steps or Half Moon Steps nearly impossible.
In short: avoid the Arctic Package if you plan to add Half Moon Side Steps later. We have included a reference photo showing this configuration so customers can easily identify whether their vehicle is affected.
