Different backdoor-hinges of the Mercedes Sprinter and how to recognize them.

Some of our bestselling products are the Cargo ladder and Tire carrier; both for the rear exterior of Mercedes Sprinter (both 906 and 907 model). To make sure these products are installed solid and safe we want to emphasize that they can only be installed on rear doors with 180 degrees hinges! Below we show you the differences and how to recognize them.

180˚ versus 270˚ hinges of Mercedes Sprinter:

Why rear door products only can be installed on doors with 180˚ hinges:

To make sure our products for the rear of your van are installed solid and safe we want to emphasize that they can only be installed on rear doors with 180 degrees hinges! This is because of two reasons:

  • The 270˚ are different than the 180˚ hinges and therefore the mounting of the rear door products does not work.
  • Doors with 270˚ hinges open actually up to 270˚, which means the Cargo Ladder and Tire Carrier would ‘slam’ and damage the sides of your van.

Recognizing 180˚ / 270˚ hinges of Mercedes Sprinter:

How do you recognize the different hinges and therewith assure yourself our rear products fit your van?

  • 180˚ hinges have 1 hinge point;
  • 270˚ hinges have 2 hinge points;
  • Doors with 180˚ can only open up to 180 degrees;
  • Doors with 270˚ open all the way (to the sides of your van).
